CJ R I will not be able to come up with a clever enough compliment for as much of a fresh record “Keeping Up?” is but if I am being honest, this was by far the best release of 2020 in my opinion. The memories this album sheds for me is undeniable. From pump up the dole-drums’ sincere confessions, CONputer shoppes nostalgia, to the mystic SEARS customer service-sounding infomercial refund, I am absolutely smitten and could not possibly thank Darren enough for this idea he crafted stunningly. Muc Favorite track: neu paranoid G8 M8.

Birds started flying backwards, over the town that you were born and they waves they were returning to the Pacific Ocean and all the messages in your life that you once sent, returned to you all at once, like old friends. Yeah I know a guy he moved to New York. Vocation in finance he got addicted to work. Lost all his money found it all back. Look-a-like wife Scarlett Johansson. He saw the Twin Towers fall from his window. Now he listens to Steely Dan that was 19 ago. He's got a kid now he takes to the park. That thinks about running away every night when its dark. And i can't wait. (to the other side) It's the New Order On my headphones I stole from American Airlines. I'm walking the computer store. I'm walking around the co(n)puter store.

about

Whilst more recently Darren has released instrumental ambient folk guitar albums as D.C Cross - Keeping Up? by Darren Cross see Cross using no guitars what-so-ever!

Keeping Up? is escapist, nostalgia inducing instrumental electronic music made on an obsolete computer, drum machine and OSX 10.8.5 -at times feeling like music composed by 90’s computers - infomercials for infomercials making infomercials.

Rolling Stone Magazine gave the album 4.5 out of 5 stars.
"an hour-long journey into the blissful ocean of nostalgia, immersing the listener in a devastatingly unique, yet warmly familiar world of musical euphoria".

Doubtful Sounds said "There’s a sense of suspended reality, a remove from the chaos of reality, pressing pause on the VCR, cleaning the hard drive, looking for a way to process and cope with the avalanche of data we consume and are unwittingly fed with each day".
